As a Student Track and Marketing Direct for the Orientation Team, my team and I planned and managed events to integrate over 10,000 new students into the University of Houston at 9 over-night freshmen orientations. We also designed and distributed marketing materials for recruiting events to obtain over 180 applications for new members of the team. We managed Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat accounts for the team posting 3-4 times per week. We hosted 6 information sessions to present information to potential applicants about our teams goals, mission, and expectations. As part of the Director Staff I assisted in the interview and hiring process of the leaders. I also oversaw and helped manage 50 peer workers and assisted in the 4 month training process. I gained experience in peer leadership, servant leadership, and team collaboration.

As an Orientation Team Leader I served as a leader, supporter, facilitator and mentor to more than 10,000 new students in order to provide them with a seamless transition into the University of Houston. I also helped entering students and their parents become acclimated to the university by introducing them to the opportunities and responsibilities of college life. I partnered with other team leaders to facilitate small groups where we provided new students with the resources, tools, and information they needed to be successful students. I provided campus tours to new students and assisted them with finding various academic buildings on campus. I also facilitated conversations with admitted students around diversity, inclusion, and social justice and assisted with the logistical execution of 22 orientation sessions throughout the summer, which included checking in students to ensure they had all the materials they needed, greeting students and guests and contributed to the overall organization and implementation of New Student Conferences. Throughout the year I served as a positive representative for the university and acted as a referral point for campus resources and student needs.

As a Guest Services Representative I assisted with the customer experience at sporting events, concerts, and other special events at the University of Houston. I worked with a team to solve customer issues as they arose with a small team of 6 other representatives. I assisted in the preparation of the venue for events and set up when needed. I also had the opportunity to work as a team liaison during the NCAA Regional Baseball Tournament, it was my responsibility to assist visiting teams during the tournament.
