Savannah Windham joined the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools (VILS) initiative team in October of 2022 as Associate Director of Learning Design. She is passionate about using design to solve complex real-world problems in education. As a former public high school English teacher in Durham, North Carolina, Savannah strived to find new and creative ways to engage her students, creating several new course curriculums rooted in project-based learning and centering student voice and leadership. While in the classroom, she was awarded the Stanford Hollyhock Fellowship, received her National Board Certification, served as a mentor for beginning teachers at Duke TeachHouse, and participated in international education-focused cultural exchanges to Finland, Canada, and Nepal. Prior to joining Digital Promise, Savannah served as an Instructional Designer and Education Consultant for Duke TeachHouse, Red Hat, Metametrics, and Relay Graduate School of Education. Savannah earned her B.A. in English from the University of Kansas, a M.A. in Teaching from Duke University, and a M.A. in Educational Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
