As an Admissions Reader for the SC Johnson College of Business, I assist with the selection process for the Dyson School and the Nolan School. Review of application materials includes the Common Application, Cornell Supplement, teacher recommendations, transcripts, secondary school documents, and any additional supplemental documents submitted by applicants. My role is to summarize key parts and provide a brief summary of each applicant to the full-time staff for admissions decisions to be made.

I joined Galvanize to assist with launching the first Software Engineering with Javascript & Python (SJP) 19-week Beginner Coding Bootcamp in the Eastern Timezone. I focused my time on building strong relationships, examining feedback and identifying areas for improvement, and detail-oriented coordination of all programmatic logistics. As a result of this effort, I am proud to share that our first ET cohort graduated 85% of enrolled students! This role has also given me exposure to application screening processes through live and pre-recorded interviews. As the organization's priorities shifted, I pivoted into a project management-focused role to support the ongoing improvement and enhancement of the SJP program. In this role, projects that I worked on include:1) A DEI-focused student data analysis project to pinpoint opportunities for developing support services aimed at increasing resilience in underrepresented populations in software engineering. 2) A curriculum training program, bridging curriculum knowledge for instructors and fostering uniform customer communication among non-technical staff.

As one of the office's first assistant directors, I assisted our leadership team in the delegation and restructuring of office responsibilities. As a leadership team, we were able to distribute duties more fairly across 10 full-time and two part-time advisors. One of my focus areas was the supervision of two part-time graduate assistants. Before departing from my role, I redesigned the graduate assistant job description to better represent their duties. The new position description allowed our leadership team to advocate for additional funding to increase the graduate assistant's salary and secure professional development funds. Additionally, I served on campus-wide committees centering around recruitment initiatives, technology implementation, and larger academic problem-solving. Internal to our office, Ied initiatives related to the assessment of services and office morale.Please note: this position overlaps with my role as Academic Advisor, Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management. This involved meeting with prospective students 1:1, designing the application, collecting and distributing applications, and managing the review committee. Finally, I supported the School of Nursing through annual curriculum and handbook reviews, advising on policy/procedure updates, coordinating the two tracks of undergraduate nursing education, training faculty academic advisors, and managing faculty advising assignments.

As part of a year-long assessment project, two other graduate students and I assisted the Dean of Students and Orientation Office with learning more about parent and family needs throughout the lifecycle of their students. We started by learning more about the campus's needs for this assessment project and followed up by administering a communication assessment that involved surveys and in-person interviews. Once we understood the needs of all stakeholders, we conducted scholarly research and collaborated with campus partners to develop a multi-campus communication plan.

This role can best be broken down into three categories:Event Planning & Support | I assisted with the planning and execution of four annual, large-scale events: the fall and spring Involvement Fair, the Collegiate Leadership Conference, and the Student Organization Achievement and Recognition (SOAR) Awards. In addition, I planned and executed small-scale events that included student leader and advisor workshops and weekly mini-involvement fairs. Supplemental to the events I was responsible for, I assisted with office initiatives that included Welcome Week, Dawgs After Dark, and SEC Watch Parties. Student Organization Advising | I co-advised a cohort of sophomores and juniors who participated in the Tate Leadership Program (2018-19). This program provided leadership resources and resulted in a passion project selected by each member. For the 2012-20 academic year, this program was rebranded to be a New Organization Leadership Institute. This program was created and managed by myself and another Graduate Intern with a focus on building sustainable student organizations that followed University best practices. Finally, I co-advised the Involvement Ambassador program which was designed to support students who were looking for student organization support or for ways to get involved on campus. Student Organization Policy | I assisted with the management of the annual student organization registration process, where 500+ student organizations would submit applications to be recognized student organizations. This process involved the review of organizational documents and membership status submitted through the Campus Labs software. In addition to the annual registration in the spring semester, I assisted with the ongoing new organization registration process and provided individual support to student leaders who were struggling to submit their materials.

As the Student Leader Learning intern, I was asked to focus my time on developing outcome-based educational programming for Resident Assistant (RA) training. I worked with Residence Life and Student Housing staff and other campus partners to understand the purpose and goals of their training presentations, so that I could create learning outcomes and appropriate assessment techniques. I wrote measurable learning outcomes for two weeks of training that were assessed through online assessments, writing samples, and role-play activities. Staff were able to assess writing samples and role-play activities using rubrics that I created. The online assessments and rubrics were developed in Canvas and Baseline.I was tasked with creating the Department's crisis management training program, Behind Closed Doors, for the 99 incoming RAs. This involved creating scenarios, organizing role-play groups, developing rubrics for each scenario, and securing rooms on campus for the training. Additionally, I served on the workbook committee where I assisted staff with the development of a training and organizational manual for Resident Community Directors (RCD) and RAs. This workbook provided RCDs and RAs with quick access to meeting notes, policy and procedure, building layouts, and a calendar of all events.

I was placed at Oglethorpe University for one of my required internship experiences while enrolled in my Master's program. I worked directly with the Assistant Dean and Director of Global Education to improve the study abroad and international student experience. I performed a benchmark analysis of peer and aspirational institution's services and programs. This benchmarking report resulted in the proposal and implementation of recommendations for existing and future services. In addition to my benchmarking project, I assisted in the implementation of pre-departure orientation for students studying abroad, attended international education training, practiced cross-cultural advising with international students, and developed marketing materials for fundraising and scholarship opportunities.

My culminating assignment for my internship was to assist the Assistant Director with the coordination of the 2018 Dub Awards which celebrated student organizational excellence.
