Pulled most recent American Community Survey data and assessed whether higher poverty block groups with a high proportion of non-White, foreign-born, and limited-English speaking residents will have worse heat… Show more Project 1: Chinatown HEROS (Heat Equity and Resilience in Open Spaces) Study Envisioning Climate Resilient and Equitable Open Spaces for Boston’s Chinatown: Analyzed sociodemographic disparities in heat stress, particulate matter, amenities, and utilization across open space sites. Pulled most recent American Community Survey data and assessed whether higher poverty block groups with a high proportion of non-White, foreign-born, and limited-English speaking residents will have worse heat levels, particulate matter, open space amenities, and utilization. Developed visually and lay-person accessible summary report backs of data findings using various mediums for community residents and organizations in Chinatown. Supported the design of community workshops to share research findings and engage with Chinatown residents about climate change impacts and potential interventions via interactive art making and design. Developed and analyzed pre- and post-workshop evaluation surveys to evaluate whether workshops improved participants’ knowledge, attitude, and self- and collective efficacy to address climate and heat issues in their community.Project 2 Environmental Determinants of Racial/ethnic and Nativity Disparities in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus: Characterizing Heavy Metal Sources for Asian Women of Reproductive Age in the US:Utilized Rayyan to review the literature on 1) heavy metal sources of dietary and non-dietary exposure, and 2) measures of dietary acculturation used among Asian immigrants in the United States to assess dietary patterns and changes in diet with increasing time in the United States and other indicators of acculturation.
