Extend role to product as is doing technology

Added responsibility for IPTV/VOD technology as well as on-going mobile media tech. Also include media tech R&D.

SK Broadband is the second largest ISP & IP TV company in S. Korea. As media industry is changing rapidly, the company is responding by enlarging its media power. As a part if it, I'm transited as leading role in developing "oksusu"-mobile TV app- and conducting other extended mission. Simply put, doing head of oksusu develop and other future media business development as I was doing in the previous company.

SK techx was founded at March 2016 as a SK telecom subsidiary company seeking technical sophisticated opportunity in mobile & platform area. This company was a part of SK planet before, now it begin journey alone for the objectives laid more closely with SK telecom and beyond. My job in this company is same as I've done in SK planet. Looking at Media sector for radical change and disruptive innovation.

Seeking new opportunity in mobile business space in conjunction with over the top chance to be able to expand its playground beyond Telco friendly environment.Led 50 people organization to launch content application and created content with partners. To be able to expedite content population in the app, I led deal with on content companies.

Responsible all location based service development in the company. Major works are Tmap service and application development, driving guide data generation platform, POI/map platform development and more.

Changed the team's name due to its business coverage change. We're focusing on many commerce activity occurring on mobile devices. "T Shopping" application, providing consolidated view of 6 major TV home shopping channels on mobile device, was release this August exclusively for SK Telecom LTE subscribers. We'll create more commerce & shopping apps with difference user experience ever given.

Develop mobile merchandising application for fashion and other goods. Building huge product & price database to provide broad information on the commerce & merchandising application. There're offline partnership works with Fashion show & TV shows. We launched Basket and Stylebook available on Android & iOS. More will come later!!

SK planet was spun off from SKT. SK planet brought many mobile and web services when it was off from SKT. hoppin, the SK planet's VoD service, was one of them. My team was responsible for platform development as well as android/iOS application development.

SKT rolled out hoppin service which is media service available on many screens such as TV, Web and mobile. As SKT's flagship VoD service, "hoppin" is available on Internet & android devices. That is so called "N-Screen" service which can be on TV if the device being connected with HDMI cable. You can imagine hoppin as Netflix in Korea with more added mobile capability such as downloading premium contents to mobile devices. I was responsible for operation & development of hoppin (www.hoppin.nate.com) platform.

Joined Personalization Tech. team which focused on massive data processing and analysis. We originally used Oracle as a primary data processing engine but soon became a big fan of Hadoop and other good stuffs from outside world. We improved out platform by combining Hadoop and some technical in-house developed modues. My role was consulting business people within SK Telecom to let them use our platform for their business and service analysis.

Joined Helio, MVNO joint venture with SKT and Earthlink, as a director of BSS/OSS. The position was responsible for all development work of customer care & billing system and the company's Web store front which is the place you can find a phone you like ,chose a subscription plan and find a content you can enjoy on your Helio phone. I built 20+ people technical team and managed offshore team in India.

Led a small team for MelOn back-end platform development and web platform. Then I changed my role to R&D planning and incubating tech. base new product.

There was partnership and business development with major communication device and software companies. I develop overall strategy and did partnership program with Accenture. Also contributed myself to building 3GRC in SKT with Alcatel. I had a lot of meetings and co-working opportunity with many companies in many different location and size.

As we closed Iridium business, I had to find a position in SKT. I was chosen by IT R&D Center as a member of IT strategy group. I was leading IT architecture project which basically followed the philosophy of John A. Zachman, many believe he was the beginning of Enterprise Archtecture. We employed simpler version which was comprised by Data , Application, Technical and people(skill set) & Org. architecture. I led DA initially since data is static object compare to other architecture element. On doing DA works, we did reverse engineered existing database a lot of time.

In 1999, Iridium LLC decided to build offshore IBS operation in Malaysia, there're lot of work going on in Reston datacenter for transition as well as on-going stuffs. That mean they need extra hands. They picked me and asked consulting work. My role was coaching & shadowing existing application support people to help Gateway's business operation continuously regardless of the capability transition to another region.I helped few GW's directly and evaluated SW releases while I taught & supported rest of members.

Korea Mobile Telecom, now it is SK Telecom, participated Iridium consoritium which is low orbital satellites based mobile telephone business. On doing that they built a company to support the business outside of their business units. Iridium Korea posted SW specialist and DBA position in 1997. I entered the company as a SW specialist and then became DBA as well. I did main role in establishing GBS in Iridium Korea datacenter. GBS is Iridium Gateway's business system that is comprised with CCBS, famous GSM billing system, and many SW off the self products. I worked with Solaris, Oracle 7.x, Croba adaptor-probably Orbix, some Java stuffs and many many shell scripts. We did some custom development works and our own Datawarehouse.We merged into SK Telecom in Aug 1998 as company decided to run the business insdie with many internal support groups.

I was one of few SW developers in System automation team. We're responsible for manufacturing cell automation and building SW infrastructure for data analysis. I did database design, development of communication and data loading module. From career development point of view, I was able to gain professional experience of Unix system programming and Oracle DBMS. On the other hand, as we combine our systems with corporate MES (SiMAX at that time), it was fortune to be able to see corporate wide semi conductor manufacturing process. During the integration work, I was main system analyst and did lot documentation.
