As Dean of Belmont University’s Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business, I am responsible for all of the college’s academic programs and student enrichment initiatives. This includes leadership of the faculty, staff and students in enhancing the vitality of its 12 academic degrees - across music, motion pictures, journalism, media, book publishing, and sports industries - as well as in developing new and innovative programs and partnerships to serve other facets of the entertainment industry. I am also responsible for communicating Belmont’s mission to external stakeholders; maintaining and coordinating college-based solicitations and various appeals to increase overall giving; and cultivating and nurturing positive, philanthropic support of relationships with alums, parents, and donors.

As head of Nashville Label Partnerships, Music Strategy, I co-lead Spotify’s Music Team in Nashville, with responsibility for setting the vision of the team and cultivating and nurturing industry partnerships across the greater Nashville market. I also co-lead the development and execution of Spotify’s global strategy to grow the Country, Christian/Gospel, and Americana genres, and was a leader in an era-defining shift in country music consumption habits. My work included the transformation and marketing of the flagship playlists Hot Country and Indigo, bringing country music to fans through Spotify’s annual four-day activation at CMA Fest, extending the St. Jude t-shirt campaign into streaming, and ongoing global artist marketing campaigns. I was also instrumental in strategically acquiring and retaining an impressive team to meaningfully bolster Spotify’s presence in the Nashville market and built a culture of teamwork and collaboration that fueled Spotify’s partnerships across Nashville.

My work focuses on music, entertainment, copyright and right of publicity matters for both institutional and talent clients, with a particular emphasis on the music industry. Specifically, I work with clients to develop legal and business strategies for music and entertainment content exploitation and long-term impact, to license content, and to structure and negotiate publishing, recording, distribution, endorsement, live event, and other talent-based agreements. I also provide counsel and advice on technology-related issues; production activities; minor performer considerations, and pre-litigation entertainment-related disputes. My clients include major label and independent artists, songwriters, reality competition show contestants, producers, record and publishing companies, advertising agencies, digital platforms, and film/TV and live stage production companies. My work, passion for my clients, and deep commitment to development of Nashville and the broader music and entertainment community, has garnered me recognition as a Mid-South Rising Star (Super Lawyers), one of the leading Women in Music City (Nashville Business Journal), and one of the few lawyers listed in Variety Magazine's Music City Impact Report.
