I am known for being resilient, rational and considered. I am a strategic thinker and find this often gives the necessary perspective to resolve issues. I take responsibility in maintaining a high standard of everything I do. I am supportive of my colleagues in their professional growth and strongly believe that successful outcomes/projects start with a good team foundation and collaboration. I have worked with the City of Gold Coast for 10 years. My current responsibilities as Supervising Planning of the Planning Appeals & Research team include strategic management of Appeals in the Planning & Environment Court and development application assessment. My areas of expertise include development assessment, management of planning appeals, infrastructure agreements, infrastructure contributions, interpretation of planning schemes, legislation and policy, and leading a multi-functional team inclusive of being a respected role model and mentor. I have qualifications in Urban and Environmental Planning, graduating with Class I Honours from Griffith University. My thesis added to the large body of existing literature around community participation in the planning process and focused on a case study of a development based on Urban Ecology principles - Christie Walk in Adelaide. The conclusions of my research recommends a series of principles planning professionals can adopt to ensure that community participation is genuine and authentic. I have a focus on building and maintaining professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders. I enjoy robust discussions and negotiations relating to site specific planning, wanting to achieve a balanced outcome across all competing factors. I advocate for and discuss big ideas, practices and strategies in order to influence and achieve positive planning outcomes. I have a strong personal drive to do my part in facilitating good development outcomes for the places we live, work and play that we can be proud of.
