Specialist: Routing Support
CurrentMaintains data to include equipment and bus routes to accommodate changes in student addresses, transfers, withdrawals, bus stop placement or new enrollments. Updates student resident locations, the location and seating capacity of all school buses, the operating hours of all schools and the special needs of students. Takes corrective action on bus routes and seeks assistance when appropriate. Assess and analyzes bus route efficiencies and makes recommendations for routing and scheduling improvements. Prepares, maintains, collects and distributes route information and data such as length of runs, student requirements, linking of schools regarding bell times based upon criteria established by Transportation Office. Generates reports for schools, parents and students regarding changes in stop locations, stop times and bus numbers. Determines geographic eligibility for transportation based on district policies, regulations and procedures. Collects and processes transportation placement notifications and implements necessary changes for applicable bus routes. Updates computerized maps of school, streets, bus lots, bus stops and student addresses to coordinate school bus routes and respond to new construction or changes in traffic restrictions. Participates in major routing reorganizations, especially during the summer months.
