Growing up in Scotland, I always found myself to be close to nature; this gave me an interest in the sciences, which I pursued throughout school. At home, we always had the latest gadget: I was surfing the internet in the 90's while the waves were just ripples but Science was my first love. At University I studied a degree in Forest Product Technology, unfortunately my love of science couldn't handle my lack of affinity with botany; to this day, the only tree I can recognise from a long way away is the larch. Leaving university, I worked a couple of odd jobs in bars and nightclubs where I learned to speak to people and more importantly to listen to them. My first corporate job was at BT, as a call handler for National Rail Enquiries. This taught me about getting to the point of a call swiftly and getting the information back just as fast. After a year or so an opportunity arose where I was to pilot an new technology by being a part of Project Wave which used technology in supporting collaborative browsing and VoIP, all common now but back in 1999 it seemed like the 21st Century Jumping a few years, a few technologies, and even a few cities I found myself in London where I worked for lastminute.com and introduced to RightNow which would become my project specialisation. After the Credit Collapse of the late 2000's I followed my soon to be wife in returning to her homeland in France, this brought new challenges as my French was complètement inexistant.I learned French by sitting in a café and listening to the patrons while doing origami, soon I was hearing "C'est Monsieur plier!" whenever I arrived and people slowly started speaking to me. I joined a local pool team and really started to understand colloquial French. As RightNow was not quite as established in France as the UK I moved into the consulting arena, working remotely for a company in Nottingham with clients in the UK and in North America.After the birth of my sons I returned to the UK to a consultancy boutique in London where I refined my skills before joining Magia. Working with the Team I have been encouraged to expand my Oracle Specialisations adding Intelligent Advisor and Fusion Service to my Service Centre certification. In 2020, I completed the circle and returned to Scotland where the technology I first played with in back in 1999 means I am able to comfortably work from home while spending my evenings with my family, and teaching new skills with the Beaver sections which I am proud to support in my roles as Assistant District Commissioner and Section Leader.
