Also, found that team was performing the same steps over and over just to access the systems we were supporting. Learned to program in VB.NET and learned MS SQL database design. As a result, was able to build a desktop program in VB.NET and a SQL database to solve the problems. With a point and click interface all of 2nd level support could quickly find information on the 1600 telephone offices we supported and the process of accessing remote systems was automated. Users could update the data right in the Worktop itself and perform SQL queries to search detailed information when necessary. A tremendous amount of time was saved throughout the department by the efficiency of the Worktop. Repetition of tasks was eliminated. Was a Verizon Excellence Award finalist (individual effort) and received a monetary award.Identified a need to drive cost savings around documentation software for the various centers across the country. Up to 15 copies of the same software at $10K each had to be purchased every year and sent to various centers across the country. Worked with a team to install software on a server which would require only one copy of the documentation to be purchased per year. Handled the server installation of the software while others on the team handled the actual documentation installation. Achieved savings of about $140,000 per year through centralized documentation. Was a Verizon Excellence Award finalist (team) and received a monetary award. Show less
