Public Policy ConsultantSpecialize in designing public policy strategies that incorporate legislative and media components with a special focus on transportation, tech and homeland security. Successes include:• Design and execution of media campaign that was pivotal in the passage of legislation to raise the retirement age of commercial airline pilots; • Secured more than $6 million in direct funding for technology client; and • Won a finalist position for a state university in the selection process for a $450 million DHS laboratory.

Created and managed the office of external affairs which was responsible for all interactions with Congress, stakeholders and the media. Served as principal negotiator and liaison with Congressional authorizers and appropriators. Responsible for the strategic development and overall management of the agency’s external and internal communications programs, media relations and website operations. Serve as point of contact for all stakeholders including university programs and national laboratories.

At NHTSA, responsible for the agency’s interactions with all stake holders on various topics including CAFE, vehicle safety, highway reauthorization and driver behavior programs. Interacted daily with the White House, Congress, other federal agencies and state governments. Served as primary point of contact for regulated entities.

At FAA, served as the agency’s chief spokesperson and was responsible for the strategic development and overall management of the agency’s external and internal communications programs, media relations and web site operations. Served as chief spokesman during the terrorist attacks of September 11. Managed staff of 37.

Director of Communications February 1998 – March 2001Served as chief spokesman for largest committee in Congress. Crafted and implemented communication strategies for all initiatives including the 1998 highway bill and the 2000 aviation bill.
