Scott extends his practice through a diverse array of intellectual property matters, including those associated with patents, trademarks, copyrights, and unfair competition. In doing so, Scott has taken leading roles in litigation, prosecution, right-to-use and freedom to operate opinions, as well as general contractual matters such as licensing of intellectual property rights and preparing joint development and manufacturing agreements. Scott has overseen the intellectual property portfolios of several companies, where his focus is on maximizing protection in a cost-effective manner appropriate for the particular client's needs. In relation to such matters, Scott often counsels clients on the patentability of inventions and registrability of trademarks and copyrights, while keeping an eye toward reducing the risk of potential infringement claims by others. Scott's enthusiasm is not limited to legal matters. Scott enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter as well as bicycling and running. Scott is also an avid photographer. Scott balances these activities by serving as a volunteer. Previously, Scott served on the Board of Directors for the Chi Phi Fraternity, the oldest national social fraternity in the country, and was an active volunteer for The JT Foundation, a charitable foundation with the goal of raising awareness for Autism.
