Supervise high risk youth, at all times in their daily academic, recreational and social activities of a youth rehabilitative facility. Teaching basic living skills and maintaining structure, discipline, safety and providing support and guidance. As a YRCII, the following are some of the essential functions to the position. - I oversee and assume an active, participatory role in the daily activities of an assigned group of youth. I observe their behavior and adjustment to programs, and exchange written and oral reports on those observations with other staff. - I am responsible to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with the youths to encourage and assist with their social adjustment. Interpret and teach unit procedures, rules and disciplinary policies to the youths. The implementation of unit security procedures; including performing regular room, door, and grounds checks or community/home visits and frequent observations and monitoring of high-risk youths. - I assist in the handling of serious disturbances and monitor both incoming and outgoing visitors to the facility, which can involve having to physically restrain the youths. - I escort the youths to activities and appointments inside or outside the institution, and am responsible for their discipline and conduct while having to transport them via motor vehicle to and from events and appointments. - I prepare, maintain and contribute to a variety of records and reports to document information relating to the youths including, but not limited to, treatment plans, progress notes, population reports and inventories.
