As a treasury associate with HYG, my key responsibilities are to ensure that all payments are made efficiently and accurately within the agreed credit terms and in line with corporate policy. This includes planning and actioning payment runs, ensuring manual payments outwith payment runs are are made timeously and within key metrics as well as managing payment processes and projects regarding new payment methods or accounts. I also clear the general ledger sub accounts on a daily basis using SAP, and support the department lead in the preparation of cash flow forecasts and reporting to management.

I started with HYG as a Customs Compliance Coordinator, where my main focus was on the completion of export entries, creating the export declarations for these exports and supplying these declarations to the freight forwarder, shipper and suppliers. I also participated in the completion of import clearance instructions and the coordination of documentation requirements from internal and external customers. I also provided support to all members of my team with document support and ad-hoc analysis. My main takeaway from this role was a substantial increase in confidence as I settled in quickly and performed well in what was at the time my first office job.
