The First Sergeant exercises general supervision over assigned enlisted personnel. Leads 463 military intelligence professionals, is the unit's focal point for all matters concerning enlisted members, and is the commander's primary advisor for all quality indicators concerning the force. First Sergeants ensure the force understands the commander's policies, goals, and objectives and that support agencies are responsive to needs of personnel. These responsibilities are accomplished by working closely with senior leaders and first-line supervisors; having a high level of competency, motivation, and communicates effectively, both internally and across the installation and Air Force; and interacting with base partners to enhance readiness and provide personal assistance to unit installation members and their families; acting as an advocate for all associated members, developing a seamless communication structure between the commander, unit members, and support agencies. The First Sergeant advises commanders on topics such as health, espirit de corps, discipline, mentoring, well-being, career progression, recognition, and professional development of all assigned enlisted members. As a first responder, the First Sergeant is on call 24 hours a day, at home station and deployed locations; intervenes to resolve and manage crisis situations; ensuring safety and security while fully accounting for all personnel involved. The First Sergeant works closely with the Command Chief Master Sergeant to support the total needs of the military community and prepare the enlisted force to execute the wing and base mission. First Sergeants goal is to provide a mission ready force everyday.
