As the Director of AIBS SPARS, Mr. Glisson is responsible for all scientific research review of proposals and programs submitted to federal agencies and other organizations. Under Mr. Glisson’s leadership, AIBS SPARS has established programmatic peer review for almost every federal agency that has responsibilities in the field of biological science—including the Department of Defense (Army, Office of Naval Research, Air Force, etc.), the EPA, and the National Science Foundation (NSF)—and other organizations that support scientific research, including the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Flight Attendant Medical Research Institute, the Alaska SeaLife Center, the H. John Heinz Center, and the Kansas University Medical Center Research Institute. He is the AIBS SPARS liaison with al clients and works to plan successful independent peer review activities that target organizational goals and ensure that the most worthy scientific research is funded.

Served as Interim Co-Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) scientific association dedicated to advancing biological research and education for the welfare of society in collaboration with its member scientific organizations. AIBS was founded in 1947.
