At AIM I work both one-on-one and in a small group setting with youth who are currently incarcerated and/or recently reentered society. By helping these youth to study for school or their GEDs, find jobs, and work at Crossroads Cafe, they learn invaluable skills in communication, work-ethic, and are instilled with bright hope for the future. As the kitchen manager, I teach a team of youth to work together in a full-service kitchen in a job-training program providing them with a positive first job experience. Working at AIM has taught me the value of patience and helped to hone my active listening skills.

As a private Oboe teacher for students at Clark-Pleasant Middle School, Clark-Pleasant Intermediate School, and Whiteland Community High School, I work one-on-one with youth who play the oboe and are interested in improving as musicians. Music is a great way to develop confidence and self-discipline, and taking private lessons provides individuals with the attention and support they need to thrive.

ISSMA Solo and Ensemble events provide young musicians an opportunity for individual growth on their instruments. As an adjudicator, I evaluate performances, provide constructive criticism and positive feedback, and offer helpful solutions to youth performing as soloists or with others in a small ensemble.
