About Scott King

I am Scott King. A 24 year old care leaver, trainer, children’s champion, writer, consultant, LILAC Assessor and Chair of Edward Timpson MP’s Care Leavers’ Advisory group.. I am the Founder of The Puppet Project which offers training and workshops which focus on feelings and removing blame. I create videos to help people to feel and to truly understand the “inner child” with the aim to promote stability and consistency in care and nurture a new generation of care leavers who are ready to leave at aged 21 and whom have a place to belong and someone to belong to.I deliver training packages to foster carers, social workers, students and youth workers as well as delivering workshops to young people helping them to express themselves with their own videos with the focus on feelings and emotion.As well as training adults I am supporting more care leavers to work alongside me and do the same. So that we can all become the puppeteers of our own lives and dance towards more positive futures.So far The Puppet Project has been a catalyst for change, my methods work. All steps , actions and decisions must go through the local panels and all of those decisions must be looked at by the National Panel overseeing the project.

    The Puppet Project supports care leavers to express their thoughts and feelings through video and music. These videos are then used as resources in comprehensive social care training packages aimed at all areas of childcare (predominantly foster care). It uses emotion as a tool rather than a barrier, aiming to change the care system from its heart. Changing perceptions, changing minds and changing cultures. The simple but effective ethos of the Puppet Project is to remove blame and focus on feelings. Training is provided to caregivers by care leavers to aid understanding of the inner child and the shadows cast over the lives of those raised in care. The emotion that influenced them will influence change..
