About Scott Farley

Friends, family and co-workers always say, “I could never do what you do for a living. You know, fundraising – asking people for money.” Honestly, if that’s all it was, neither could I. That’s because I don’t see myself as a “fundraiser.” I’m a development officer.People donate because they believe in the mission of a charitable organization, but also because they develop relationships and trust the people who are asking on behalf of that organization. Over the course of my career, I’ve been fortunate to work for some fantastic institutions, of various sizes, impacting education, policy and healthcare. And I've raised quite a bit of money along the way. Regardless of the org or the mission, I ultimately attribute my success to one common denominator – the ability to develop relationships rooted in trust and respect. By focusing on building deep, lasting relationships with dedicated stakeholders, I’ve inspired donors, boards of directors and volunteers to realize the value of their giving – both time and money – and become truly invested in a philanthropy’s work.So whether you’re looking to donate to a cause, discuss fundraising strategies and best practices, or just want to share stories, I’d welcome the opportunity to connect and develop a new relationship.
