TearScience is a startup medical device company focused on providing solutions toward the diagnosis and treatment of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, the leading cause of Dry Eye. As a TearScience engineer, I was involved in the development of the entire product suite from initial concept through production. Some of my areas of focus were:- Was involved in the mechanical design of all of TearScience's products and designed parts produced by injection molding, machining, photoetching, RIM molding, and investment casting- Performed thermal finite element analysis and experimental ex vivo animal study to demonstrate safety and efficacy of device design to FDA- Completed optical system design and image processing algorithm development of LipiView diagnostic system for measuring lipid layer thickness and visualizing the Meibomian glands- Managed design of automated system to robotically assemble and inspect high volume single use device- Developed and executed verification and validation of device design, including testing to IEC/UL 60601-1, ISO 15004, and ISTA 2A standards.
