The CCIU provides services to the 12 school districts in Chester County. This includes services to nearly 86,000 public and non-public school students and over 6,000 educators. Direct all aspects of facilities management and support services for all facilities owned and managed by the CCIU. The services provided by the department to the managed districts include full time on site management of the district’s facilities maintenance and custodial staff, oversight of capital budgeting and construction and renovation services, procurement of supplies and materials, coordination of public bids, energy management, and specialized maintenance related services.

Direct all aspects of facilities management and operations for a department of over 200 full and part time staff, through six divisional managers and 15 building supervisors. Responsible for budget development and management for an operating budget of $14 million, small capital projects budget of approximately $2M annually (based on a 5 year capital plan), and oversight of large capital projects prioritized by a feasibility report. Most recent large capital project was a $45M middle school renovation seeking LEED Gold and a $2M ACE grant. Completed a $9.5M GESA project. Began RFP and professional services selection for $100M high school campus project. Member of Superintendent’s Administrative Cabinet, coordinating with all departments to accomplish District mission and goals.

Direct all aspects of facility operations with a department of 105 foremen, supervisors, maintenance, grounds, custodial, and support staff. Manage $5.5 million operating budget. Maintain over 1.75M sq/ft of buildings. Manage all utilities, mechanical systems, operations, safety and security, contracted services, athletic fields, purchasing, capital improvements, inspections, vehicle fleet, domestic water treatment, IPM, Right to Know, green and sustainable initiatives, as well as supporting all other departments.Accomplishments:• On March 9th, I received the prestigious 2012 PASBO Gold Award of Excellence in School Facilities for the outstanding practices of our department. • The energy initiatives I have secured and managed for DASD reduced utility costs by $750,000 and produced revenue of $65,000 last year alone. Energy management is a constant focus for me and continues with smart purchasing, PLC reductions, usage tracking, Demand Response, unoccupied setbacks, and user education. • Received the PA Waste Watchers Award for the exemplary recycling efforts of the District.

Manage all aspects of facility operations with a department of 45 union maintenance, grounds, and custodial staff. Enhance and improve facility operations. Manage contracts, vendors, purchasing, facility usage, athletic fields, snow and ice removal, training, and recycling. Participated in feasibility studies and strategic planning. Assisted in managing food service and wellness, transportation, and the design and construction of two new schools.Accomplishments:• My energy management and education efforts at PASD saved over $1 million in the first four years, averaging over 20% reductions from base year figures.• I instituted new SchoolDude work order and inventory systems to improve efficiencies and accountability. • I worked on the task force to open a new Special Education building and return 56 outsourced students to the District. • I played a key role in the logistics of hosting the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life event for five consecutive years shattering RFL records for fundraising.
