Executive Manager - Foundation Services - Active Directory | Myras

35 Tumbalong Boulevard Haymarket Nsw 2000

In April 2019, I was approached by the General Manager of End User Experience (EUX), who was the Platform Owner for Active Directory, to come to CBA with the view to uplift CBA’s Active Directory and to drive world-class, strategic Active Directory design and practices. The primary focus of this – and my subsequent move to CBA, was to provide strategic direction, thought leadership, and technical expertise and oversight. I was tasked with elevating CBA’s Active Directory to a world’s-best standard, in a similar manner to what I had delivered to UNSW.For the previous 23 years, CBA’s Active Directory had been outsourced to numerous external vendors (for the past 8 years, DXC), and I was brought in as the Executive Manager for Active Directory, with the view to modernise and provide strategy, oversight, and thought leadership to the Active Directory environments. Up until that point, CBA’s Active Directory had been run purely as a transactional Active Directory, with no thought leadership, or long-term strategic vision, direction or ownership. It had never been run as a strategic Identity, authentication, and authorisation tool.In February 2020, a decision was made by the CBA Board, to fully re-insource the Active Directory from DXC and for my team to take complete ownership and management of the entire CBA Active Directory landscape. For the next 10 months I managed this process, which involved hiring a global team of 16 Engineers and putting in place the procedures to enable the seamless transition of the Active Directory from DXC, to CBA.I then set about completely redesigning, modernising, and uplifting the Active Directories, with a long term, large-enterprise, strategic vision, built around security, optimisation, availability, and resiliency and set about implementing a 1, 5, and 10 year Identity and Active Directory strategy, to deliver CBA a truly world-class Active Directory/Directory Services platform.

Lead Enterprise Active Directory Engineer and Enterprise Directory Services & Security Architect

Sep 2015 - Nov 2019

Enterprise Active Directory, Iam And Ldap Engineer

Kensington Nsw

In September 2015, I was made the Lead Identity and Active Directory Engineer at UNSW. As part of this, I undertook a program of redesigning and rearchitecting the Directory Services model at UNSW, that included many new administrative models, initiatives, and technologies.A primary aspect of my role was to drive new technologies and processes improvement, while always maintaining ‘Operational Excellence’. I pride myself on finding gaps in processes, technologies, and management of an environment and filling those gaps with innovative new technologies. My goal is to always improve productivity for end-users and administrators alike, while at the same time reducing capital expenditure.A major component of this new Active Directory architecture was designed and built around Active Directory security, with an emphasis on Privilege Access Management (PAM) and JiTA and included a new, highly advanced Domain Admin credential security model that I designed, built and implemented. This incorporated world’s-best practices and all but eliminated the potential of Domain Admin credential theft.I also designed, built and implemented a new environment that facilitated an ‘Agile' development model for developers, while at the same time significantly increased the security and stability of the primary Active Directory identity store. This involved building a dedicated ‘Server Resource Domain’ that separated applications and servers from the user identities. As part of my role, I was made the lead technical contributor and member of the IAM Technical Advisory Group (TAG) and selection committee that was tasked with the selection of a new IAM tool for UNSW. I am also a lead technical contributor and member of the UNSW Enterprise Security Architecture board, as well as a lead contributor and member of the CASB selection committee. I am also a regular technical contributor to the UNSW Architecture and Advisory Group (AAG) board.

Corporate Ecommerce Designer, Implementer And Administrator

Mane Hair & Makeup - Online Store

Mane Hair & Makeup required a corporate eCommerce solution to successfully bring to market, their range of professional hair care, skin care and cosmetics products. Mane Hair & Makeup was an established and highly successful hair and makeup business servicing the celebrity market. They required an automated eCommerce solution to move them from simply a physical hair and makeup artist 'shop', to a successful online retailer of high-end hair care, skin care and cosmetics. While outside my usual area of expertise, I took on the role of designing, creating, implementing and administering the corporate eCommerce solution in June 2012. A primary aspect of this role was not just the design, build and implementation of the eCommerce solution; but also to develop Mane Hair & Makeup's online presence through aggressive Search Engine Optimisation (SEO); list management; product development; as well as online marketing campaigns, all designed to further Mane Hair & Makeup's penetration and presence in the (already populous) online beauty space.
