I lead the design team for Integration & App Platform, a set of solutions within IBM Automation. My international team spans the SF Bay Area to the UK and parts in-between and includes UX & visual designers, writers, coders, team leads & first-line managers. We create and deliver excellent experiences for our clients, leading them in to the new world of automation, digital transformation and IT modernization.

Working within a 200-person product organization, leading our UX team to a deeper understanding of our users and customers for continued success for our products. We are immersed side-by-side with our full team of engineers, offering managers, support, QA, sales - you name it.At the same time, I am a design practice lead within the larger Cloud, Data & AI Design team at IBM, becoming engaged and involved in our Design Thinking efforts.

I teach user experience design, user testing and self-promotion (i.e. portfolio development) courses to Italian developers. UX topics have included wireframing (for desktop & mobile), heuristic evaluation, and various usability testing methods.

I communicate, educate and evangelize User Experience and Design Thinking to the Applications Division, a 15,000+ organization within Oracle.I educate a broad spectrum within Applications Development, including engineering, product management, and product strategy.I teach design and train our development staff to understand and meet their users’ needs, to understand our overall design philosophy and be aware of the resources available to them. Some of the resources I produce, some I help influence, and many more are produced by our great Applications User Experience team.I also work directly with Oracle Partners, training them and educating them on our simplified UI concepts, available external resources, and work through intensive ‘enablement’ sessions which include a full design-to-build process.

I lead a team of UX professionals supporting three product areas: + Financials Cloud + Project Portfolio Management Cloud (incl. Grants & Real Estate) + Student CloudMy team has ranged from 5-10 staff of senior-level interaction designers and usability engineers within the larger Applications UX team of about 150 professionals.

I manage the Financials Applications User Experience team. This team has ranged from 5-10 staff of senior-level interaction designers and usability engineers within the larger Applications UX team of about 120 professionals. My staff are mostly at Headquarters, although I have managed several remote workers, including staff in India. o Managing a team of User Experience professionals providing support to theFinancials suite of business applications consisting of Accounts Payables,Receivables, Cash Management, Expenses, General Ledger, Accounting, andCollections.o Interacted weekly with the Financials executive team to plan strategic researchefforts and tactical design support needs.o Worked closely with Product Managers to assign resources to high-impactprojects, monitor progress, and mediate design decisions.o Interacted with a 250-person development organization to work out softwareimplementation and performance-related issues and ensure that the final products met design objectives.o Led our customer research program for our next generation product line.

o Managed a team of interaction designers and usability engineers supporting Oracle's Project Management and Real Estate applications.o Led the team to prioritize and conduct major design projects that port existing products into Oracle's next generation Fusion platform.o For about half this duration I also managed the design team for the Procurement product family consisting of six major products.o Recruiting liaison for all other User Experience managers, supporting the recruitment and on-boarding of 30 new hires during rapid growth of the extended team.

Responsible for the User Experience for the Supply Chain Management Customer Fulfillment Management products. Mostly for the Order Management product.

o Owner of the user interface for several Supply Chain Management products including Order Management, Billing and Inventory. o Conducted user and field research including site visits and user interviews. o Translated research findings to product requirements and worked closely with Development and Product Strategy to prioritize and implement the designs. o Produced wire frames, interaction flows, and high-fidelity mockups. o Produced and delivered internal training to over 130 developers, strategists and business analysts on User Centered Design.

o Conducted user interviews, user research, and develop user profiles. o Developed paper and HTML prototypes to conduct user testing. o Produced site maps, application flows, wire frames, HTML and paper prototypes. o Conducted and presented heuristic evaluations and usability evaluations to clients. o Selected clients include Intuit, HP, Cartesis, and Florida Virtual School.

Designed original wire frame flows for the James Burke's KWeb user experience.

o Produced application flows, site maps, wire frames, HTML and paper prototypes. o Conducted and presented usability evaluations to clients. o Conducted paper and HTML rapid prototyping and user testing. o Built the IA practice within the company to a core service that delivered 30-50% of our revenue.

o Member of executive team, working closely with the COO, CFO, and CEO to manage client relationships and oversee project deliverables. o Hired and supervised project managers and development staff of ten. o Involved in projects where development budgets exceeded $500K. o Selected clients include Disney, Hewlett-Packard, and Seagate.

o Producer and design team member for Educational CD-ROM, "Teaching Alive." o Managed contractor resources, budget, and product testing. o Marketed and promoted the product post-development.
