I am a trial lawyer who helps companies and individuals work through their most difficult and high-exposure problems. I am proud to be a partner at Morgan Lewis & Bockius, where I am the Deputy Leader of the Firm’s Global Litigation Practice, the Managing Partner of the Firm’s Chicago Office, and a co-chair of the Firm's Class Action Working Group. I spend a significant amount of my time helping clients with consumer class action issues. These typically involve claims that individually are small but in a class action can result in tens or hundreds of millions of dollars in exposure. I spend the remainder of my time representing clients in many different industries in litigations, arbitrations, internal investigations, and state or federal regulatory matters. For example, in addition to several consumer class actions alleging claims such as consumer fraud, privacy violations, and RICO violations, I currently represent corporate clients in breach of contract disputes, in false claims act cases, and in high-exposure product liability/personal injury cases that are likely to go to trial. I also represent a not-for-profit organization in a high-profile matter involving a disciplinary decision.In short, where there are large amounts of money, or bad publicity, or important business models – and sometimes all of the above – at stake, my job is to help clients solve their problems, whether that means taking a case to trial or working our way toward a negotiated resolution.I am also active in pro bono matters. In 2007, our team obtained a landmark victory when we convinced a Chicago judge to grant our client’s post-conviction petition and vacate two murder convictions for which our client had served 24 years in prison. It was the first time that a Cook County judge had granted this relief based on claims of torture at the hands of police detectives at Chicago's Area 2 police headquarters. I also have handled death penalty cases in Illinois and Texas.
