Provided manufacturing process support for vacuum compression molding line producing one million dollars of engineered seals per month. Operations included: Barwell pre-form, compression molding (TMP presses), cryogenic finishing, post-cure, and packaging. Estimated manufacturing process cost for new part quotations. Managed the scheduling and production of all engineered seal prototypes for Tennessee Operations. Coordinated with manufacturing and quality personnel the launch of new products and associated processes. Design and testing of automatic transmission clutch pistons for Heavy Duty industry (John Deere, Case, Caterpillar, etc.). Responsible for program management of product from concept to production launch including all aspects of the prototype phase. Worked in direct contact with customers engineering staff with frequent customer visits and program updates. Incorporated the use of 3D solid modeling and the application of worst case environmental conditions in a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to determine the best possible functional solution with out compromising manufacturability. Personally tested prototype parts in state of the art equipment that operated at extreme environmental conditions. Introduced a rubber to metal bonding system that improved finish part performance, reduced possibility of operator error, and reduced plant VOC emissions. This system was adopted as the standard for all production lines and resulted in significant cost savings.
