· Ensure that all State-owned buildings have fire and sprinkler systems updated to meet code requirements· Perform minor trouble shooting on fire alarm panels such as Simplex, Siemens, Silent Night, etc· Ensure that all state-owned buildings that have fume hood systems and fire extinguishers are inspected annually· Respond to fire alarms and coordinate with contractors to repair fire alarm systems· Maintain up-to-date College-wide and Campus/Site Emergency Preparedness Plans· Read blue prints and distinguish where the fire system and sprinkler system points of interest are in a building· Serve as the lead in eliminating all of the College’s hazardous waste by gathering items and properly packing them to be disposed of by our contractor· Assist with any elevator problems such as repairs or entrapments· Train housekeeping staff on new cleaning chemicals including those required during COVID-19· Manage budgets relating to safety· Lead the College’s response to mold remediation following hurricanes and disasters· Assist Campus Police in accident investigations· Serve as liaison between the College and local government agencies (NOSWB, Fire Marshal, City Hall, etc.) as needed· Train new hires from shipping/receiving on safe forklift operation· Serve as the College’s designated Safety liaison with the Louisiana Office of Risk Management (ORM), ensuring the College is in compliance with safety-related federal and state laws and regulations· Coordinate the College’s annual audit responses to ORM· Oversee the College’s safety program and work with responsible units to ensure all safety program components are in compliance· Coordinate College-wide Safety Council meetings and campus/site-specific safety meetings, and maintain documentation of these meetings· Coordinate with responsible units to ensure safety-related employee training is provided to all employees on a monthly/quarterly basis, as appropriate· Ensure safety inspections of all buildings on all c

· Train employees in Confined Space Awareness, Rigging, Orientation, Defensive Driving, Forklift Operations, and Manlift Operations.· Completes audits on Fire Extinguishers, Confined Space Operations, Confined Space Rescue Gear, SCBA 30 min/5 min air packs, Forklifts, and Cranes. I also inspect PPE such as hard hats, full body harnesses, self-retracting lifelines, etc.· Conduct weekly safety meetings on OSHA related topics and conduct quarterly emergency drills such as fire, man overboard, and spill drills. I turn in weekly reports to supervisors on my daily activities.· Write Permits to Work, make and spot check JSAs. I have developed trending reports based on incidents, JSAs, Pre-Jobs, etc. for the HSE department and/or customers.· Worked in all aspects of the Port Facilities and have served as a liaison between our company and the major oil companies at the port. I am usually in charge of anywhere between 60-70 employees at one time and act as HSE nighttime Manager.· Participated in numerous audits from OSHA, EPA, and Coast Guard and lead accident investigations.· I have worked on special projects such as the BP oil spill where I had to work closely with different government agencies. I was also involved in a project for BP Atlantis where jumpers were assembled and shipped offshore.

· This time was spent in the facilities of BHP and the Martin Energy Terminal.· Basic job duties were to load/unload vessels and trucks going to/from rigs.· In charge of keeping facility free from any hazards.
