Flight Software Engineer
Working as a contractor on-site at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center developing flight software for the OSAM-1 satellite servicing mission. Responsible for developing the flight software in C/C++ that would run on the satellite’s Command and Data Handler (C&DH) flight computer.Throughout the course of the mission, I was responsible for a wide range of software applications including:* Hardware abstraction layer for the target flight computer that allows applications to access lower-level hardware functionality, such as access to the FPGAs and communication busses.* Application to handle flight computer errors and radiation mitigation, which was also responsible for publishing all hardware-related telemetry to the ground. This included data on temperature, voltage, FPGA image health, RAM scrubbing, and FPGA scrubbing, among other statistics.* Application for managing all NAND flash storage on the flight computer.* Machine vision applications for both LiDAR and visual cameras that determined the attitude and position of a target satellite. This was done in collaboration with the NASA analyst team that developed the base algorithms and underlying math which was implemented as an embedded application.* Several applications that are part of the NASA Core Flight System (CFS) that had to be modified for use in this project. In addition to main development tasks, I contributed in additional ways:* Developed various Python tools for the team to assist in data manipulation, generating visualizations, and processing commands/telemetry.* Helped lead the improvement and automation of several developmental and testing processes to improve team’s efficiency. Examples include developing the build pipeline in Jenkins that would build, run, and test each update to the flight software independently and allow earlier notification of potential failure.
Flight Software Engineer
Flight software engineer supporting NASA's OSAM-1 Mission. (Same Position as Relative Dynamics, just contract change).
Failure Analysis Engineer
Part of the solid state drive failure analysis team which was responsible for investigating drive failures from both external customers and internal reliability tests. Required a deep understanding of most components of solid state drives including firmware architecture, NAND components, and board level electrical systems.
Systems Engineering Intern
Interned with Intel's Non-Volatile Memory Solutions group. Became familiar with SSD architecture, and was tasked with updating software for automated SSD testing and failure analysis.
Teaching Assistant
Teaching assistant for ECE 362: "Microprocessor Systems and Interfacing" at Purdue. Responsible for leading a laboratory of about 20 students once a week as well as holding office hours once a week. Duties in lab include checking finished work, grading quizzes, and helping students who are stuck on a difficult section of the lab.
Software Development Intern
Worked with the software development team to improve the MRO website which offers a release of medical information service.
