As a Prevention Specialist for Region V Systems, I work with communities in our region to build capacity within their counties for prevention with abuses to substances and to prevent other risky behaviors. We work to create healthy communities in our work. I provide Technical assistance directly to coalitions assigned to me and work on a regional/state level to promote comprehensive strategies around mental health and substance use. Counties that are assigned to me are: Butler, Fillmore, Jefferson, Polk, Saline, Saunders, Thayer, and York. I can provide Technical assistance for them on individual and environmental strategies. I am also able to provide assistance to them with private and public grants. I am able to assist communities and schools with substance abuse prevention, a substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training Instructor(SAPST), Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor, Adult Mental Health First Aid Instructor, 40 Developmental Assets, a Suicide Prevention(Question, Persuade, Refer) Instructor, and a Master Trainer for HOPE Squads. We utilize the SPF(Strategic Prevention Framework) federal model and I can provide instructional classes on that process.I am also one of the three advisors with a regional youth board called "Youth Action Board" comprising of approximately 25 youth from all 16 Region V Systems counties in SE Nebraska..I work on the Red-White Tailgate at the Nebraska Spring Football Game. In 2019 approximately 500 youth and sponsors attend this drug free group and took the Statewide Drug Free Pledge at half time of the game. Region V Systems' Youth Action Board sponsors a youth leadership event called "June Jam" at southeast community college in Milford. Sessions throughout the 2.5 days help to build leadership in youth 7-12th grade. Youth from 16 counties and 1 group from out-state Nebraska. My duties included by not limited to: Public Speaking to large and small groups, speaking to all sectors within a community, building capacity community based coalitions, educating and marketing prevention through individual and environmental strategies. Under my direction, I wrote grants that allow this non-profit to have about a $450,000 annual budget that covered about 24 strategies.One of my proudest accomplishments was that I developed a strategies, which was implemented and grew to 10 of the 12 school districts that empowered youth and educated them on many of the social ills that affect our society. Many non-profits in the area participated in this strategy. I left this non-profit due to a larger opportunity address substance abuse prevention in 16 counties. As part of my duties, I implemented strategies to full fill several grants. At one time, this agency had 24 strategies for which I managed. Part of these duties was to build capacity in communities to build community coalitions. I worked in four counties. I left this position, when I was offered the position of Executive Director.

Nuckolls County

During my tenure at the Sheriff's Office, I performed investigative case work, traffic accident investigations, developer and administer of the E9-1-1 Center, taught the program D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) to area schools 5-6 grades and 7-8 graders. I also was on the Instructor Staff of the Nebraska DARE. Taught statewide and regional trainings.I was certified as a Firearms Instructor. I was also the supervisor for two other deputy sheriffs and 6 dispatchers.

I was a Military Policeman. I was stationed in Ft. McClellan, AL, Ft. LeonardWood, Mo; Hiedelberg, Germany; Ft. Sam Houston, TX; Camp Humphreys, Korea; and Ft. Ord, CA.During my duties I worked investigative services, law enforcement patrolling, guarded Generals, Honor Guard, and security in all aspects.
