Pastoral Intern
CurrentI preach to a congregation of a medium sized 300 member church. My internship ended, but I still cover the pastor when he needs me to preach. We sat with two members of our church as they were dying and shared hopeful stories of people who had near death experiences. I assisted with a wedding and had the honor of sitting in during premarital counseling. I assisted with a funeral for one of the two people we sat with in the end of their life. We had the joy of being with a family who had a brand new 4 hour old baby. In my experience, we have the joy to bless people in the beginning and the end. It's why I wanted to become a pastor. Many people have a fear of public speaking. I was scared the two days before my first sermon. I practiced for 8-10 hours the two days before my sermon. I continually try to improve my knowledge of rhetoric and speech structure. It's been a challenge for me to give up my tether to the manuscript. I'd love to preach in different churches in Rochester, NY to expand my preaching skills and keep improving.
