I was recruited to complete negotiations between ACPE’s private ownership and Liverpool Football Club, finalise a 5-year contract, and commence operations for LFCIA in Sydney. In addition to providing strategic and operational leadership, this involved managing a team of 3 full-time staff and >64 casual coaches, developing systems and procedures to streamline program delivery across multiple remote sites, and managing all aspects of budgeting, logistics, marketing, and promotions. Key highlights included negotiating the contract and launch of LFCIA in NSW, expanding LFCIA NSW nationally, creating and delivering education and training programs, driving prospective leads at minimal cost, increasing revenue YoY, halving clinic costs, and developing compliance and safeguarding protocols.

This role involved supporting the Hon Kev Hogan MP in all his assistant ministerial duties, with responsibility for writing policy briefs, speeches, and talking points, and advising the then Assistant Minister on matters of policy. I managed budgeting and finance for the Electoral Office, attended briefings with/on behalf of the Assistant Minister, prepared written reports and briefing notes, responded to government or constituent requests, and provided recommendations on briefings and correspondence while supporting the Office Manager in leading a team of 5 Electoral Office staff. I worked collaboratively and independently with key stakeholders including constituents, industry groups, and staff from various government departments and the offices of other members of government. I also instigated staff training to improve the support of team goals and led the reviewing and redesigning office budget procedures.

Southern Cross University, Lismore New South Wales

In addition to bringing a partially complete and inoperative outdoor sporting facility – Southern Cross Football Centre (SCFC) - to operating standards, I introduced strong connections to the local football community and created innovative ways to bring the centre to life. I also established and developed NSW LFCIA, leading a partnership program between SCU and Liverpool Football Club (LFC) to create the first full time LFC program in Australia. This included designing a concept that saw LFC choose a regional centre that was used locally in SCU and Lismore City Council promotions and was quoted as being “A leading example of values led community sport” in a speech in NSW Parliament after a visit by the Hon. Stephen Kamper MP, Member for Rockdale and the Hon. Ron Hoenig MP, Member for Heffron. It was also recognised as being “The leading LFC International academy globally” in a speech by Head of LFC Soccer Schools Dan White out of (at the time) 22 different academies around the world. I also reviewed and rejuvenated Junior High-Performance Development programs, improved community engagement, and strengthened relationships with key stakeholders. These included SCU staff, local and state football administration bodies, community clubs, regional schools, local councils, and various service and charitable organisations.

I was quickly promoted from the role of Commercial Business Manager which commenced in 2003 to CEO in 2005 with responsibility for the management of one of Australia’s largest regional based pooled mortgage trusts. I enhanced systems to reduce manual processes, introduced eternal compliance reviews, instigated the first formal annual strategy review and planning process, and created the first critical incident communication plan. Responding to the impacts of the GFC I planned and completed 4 compulsory capital payments to all investors, returning millions in capital from 10/2008 to 9/2009. I then delivered a new product range to restore access to investor funds and Trust stability, which produced further returns for investors via 11 non-compulsory withdrawal offers from 11/2009 to 4/2011. I also created strategy, gained Board and investor approval, and implemented the final stage of Trust wind down transferring management to La Trobe Financial, protecting investor funds and returning 90% of investor funds as well as negotiating the renewal of Professional Indemnity, Directors and Officers, and Crime Insurance policies. I also finalised the sale of One Mile Beach Holiday Park and business premises.
