As part of the Position Monitoring Unit my role revolves around the FCA handbook, the Short Selling Regulation (SSR), Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) and the Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules (DTR). This has required me to have a deep understanding of all the regulations and any reporting obligations that come with the regulation.Key activities include:- Building, monitoring and enhancing the FCAs monitoring capabilities around short selling. Including hedge fund strategies, UK issuers and sectors that could be seen as at risk and then providing detailed reports on these issues to senior management- A subject matter expert on the SSR involving Policy initiatives such as whether or not short selling bans should be in place, the FCAs approach to reducing the minimum reporting threshold and providing context for senior leadership speeches. - Been a key contact for the market on queries from all the aforementioned regulations and ensuring that the regulations are being abided by. This has led to me building and being involved in Enforcement cases.- Presented to and chaired high level discussions with other regulatory bodies and to senior industry members.

Joining the KYC Due Diligence team in London was a new challenge for me and with it came a new opportunity.Within this role i am apart of a brand new team that handles the KYC recertification for London. In this role i am applying a risk based approach to clients whilst liasing with front office, compliance, master territories and clients to ensure that everything is up to scratch and good to go for business.

Working in Prime Brokerage Ops in Paris was an incredible opening position into the world of Investment Banking and CIB. Within this role i handled daily BAU reconciliations between systems and products before slowly moving my way up responsibilities. By the time i finished my time at Prime Brokerage and successfully helped with the location migration i was involved in the following tasks:- Onboarding clients and ensuring a smooth go live for new clients for both the APAC and EU regions.- Handling regulatory reports (Including CASS management) to regulators.- Performing Custodian Due Diligence and relaying improvements to the team and the Custodian- Planning custodian migrations- Daily and Weekly reports to management- Performing Daily, Weekly and Monthly reconciliations All of the above tasks involved communicating and working with a range of teams from Asia, Europa and the U.S in order to perform a smooth operation.
