About Scott Snyder, Md, Faap
I am privileged to serve as the System Medical Director for St. Luke’s Neonatology, a part of St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital and St. Luke’s Health System. St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital is the only children’s hospital in the state of Idaho, and is comprised of a comprehensive group of Pediatric generalists and subspecialists serving children throughout the state. In 2017 we opened our our latest state of the art Newborn Intensive Care Unit in the new St. Luke's Nampa Hospital, bringing our System coverage to 4 NICUs across southwestern and central Idaho. Our team now brings its expertise to Twin Falls, Boise, Meridian, and Nampa as part of one cohesive and aligned group of 11 Neonatologists and 16 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners dedicated to helping the newborns of our region thrive.I am a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics, and Past President for the Idaho Chapter. Within the AAP, I am a past Chair of the District VIII Section on Neonatal Perinatal Medicine, a subset of practitioners focused on complex neonatal issues. I am excited to have recently cofounded Neonatology Solutions, LLC, a free, web-based resource for neonatology fellows seeking information about career planning and job search tactics. The website has undergone rapid development and expansion, and now also includes a free, searchable, map-based NICU directory for the U.S. and parts of Canada. In response to the pandemic, we added links to COVID-19 resources that we've found useful in our preparations, as well as downloadable versions of our local guidelines in the hopes that they are helpful to others who are continuing to develop their own approaches. There is a also a section on upcoming Neonatology conferences, as well as a recently-started repository of clinical guidelines and pathways that organizations have developed and wish to share, for free, with their colleagues. The site launched in August 2019 and new features and enhancements continue to be added regularly. With just over a year since go-live, we are excited to provide resources to our over 13,000 users.I love my home community of Boise and the beauty of Idaho, and I am eager to pursue greater civic involvement. My hope for the city and region is for continued sustainable growth, vitality, strong education, and progressive options for transportation, entertainment, and new business opportunity. I would welcome contact from people or organizations seeking a motivated, objective partner in such endeavors.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of my career has been working with neonatology fellows and helping them determine their ideal career path. Having taught a number of fellow’s workshops, career panels, and career development sessions, the resounding theme that I hear from our neonatologists-in-training is that they are seeking a comprehensive, easy to navigate, go-to location for information that can guide them as they consider their practice options post-fellowship. Fellowship training is 3 years, but a neonatology career can span 30 years or more, so the wise fellow will embark on an introspective journey with his or her family to ensure they make educated decisions about where and how they pursue their career passions. Neonatology Solutions, LLC, is here to provide the tools, education, and shoulder support to make the best choice.Additionally, we provide tools and support for practice development for neonatologists, and we are actively working to build a repository of Clinical Guidelines for neonatology where practices can share their standardization efforts freely to help everyone advance their goals to improve patient care. Our NICU Directory is the most comprehensive list of NICUs and their medical and nursing leadership on the web.
