Reporting to the Operational Training Manager based in Cullompton, I work closely with Transport Managers, Supervisors and Drivers to assess, train and monitor drivers who are being recruited into or are employed by the company. The position involves: Delivering licence acquisition training to candidates enrolled on the Gregory Distribution Apprenticeship scheme and preparing existing Class 2 company drivers for their Class 1 driving test. Carrying out driving assessments on all potential new drivers at interview stage. Deliver the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) including the induction of all new drivers. Deliver initial and refresher training on; defensive and fuel efficient driving, customer care and paperwork, EU & UK driver’s hours and tachograph regulations, driver procedures, Health & Safety including Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), specialist equipment including LST & fridge trailers, road transport Working Time Regulations and vehicle telematics and other on-board systems.Through the course of this position I carry out periodic assessments of all drivers and identify training needs, this involves travelling to a variety of sites around the UK. Maintaining good communication and working relationships with drivers and managers is a key element of this role. This role requires the maintenance of robust and accurate training records, and the provision of support to recruitment events and frequent out of hours training activities.
