Scott Bomar is a Memphis-based musician, Emmy Award winning composer, and has produced, engineered and written songs for multiple Grammy nominated and winning recordings. In 2005, Bomar composed the score for Craig Brewer's award-winning film, HUSTLE & FLOW for which Bomar has received much critical acclaim for his original score. Bomar returned in 2006 to collaborate with the filmmakers of HUSTLE & FLOW as Executive Music Producer and composer of the film, BLACK SNAKE MOAN. He worked with film's stars Samuel L. Jackson and Christina Ricci on songs for the film, which are performed on screen and the soundtrack. Bomar most recently collaborated with Craig Brewer on the Netflix film, DOLEMITE IS MY NAME, which stars Eddie Murphy and Wesley Snipes.Bomar is also the leader of The Bo-Keys, a Memphis soul/funk group featuring former Stax/Volt, Hi Records session players. The Bo-Keys appeared in the film SOUL MEN, performing on-screen with stars Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mack and on three songs Bomar produced for the film’s soundtrack, one of which, “Soul Music” by Anthony Hamilton was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2009. The Bo-Keys second album, “Got to Get Back!” was featured on NPR, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and Mojo. Bomar was named “Producer of the Year” in Living Blues Magazine’s 2012 Critic’s Poll for the album.In 2009 Bomar received an Emmy for "Best Original Music" for the documentary, I Am a Man: From Memphis, A Lesson in Life. And in 2010, he produced and engineered Cyndi Lauper’s Grammy nominated album Memphis Blues at his Memphis studio, Electraphonic Recording, which enjoyed 13 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Blues chart.
