Congressman Mike Conaway represents 29 counties in Texas’ 11th Congressional District. In the House, Congressman Conaway is the chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, former chairman of the House Ethics Committee and also serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He also serves in numerous leadership capacities, including being a deputy Republican whip, a position he has held since the 112th Congress. As chief of staff Scott worked to develop and implement policy positions, initiatives, objectives, strategies and operating plans for the Member and office while aligning multiple goals and efforts as the manager of more than 20 staff in Washington, DC, and 7 additional district and campaign offices throughout Texas, as well as numerous consultants and vendors for both official and political needs such as radio and video production, digital presence, fundraising, finances, and compliance work.In his capacity as chief of staff to Chairman Conaway during his tenure atop the Committee on Ethics Scott oversaw and advised the Chairman regarding the Committee’s jurisdiction to recommend to the House legislative or administrative actions regarding travel, gift, financial disclosure, and outside income reporting and restrictions, as well as matters regarding the Committee’s enforcement of standards of conduct and ongoing investigations of alleged violations of any law, rule or regulation for both Members and employees of the House.During the 113th Congress, the Committee on Ethics started or continued fact-gathering in 89 separate investigations, resolved 58 matters without forming an investigative subcommittee, and created four investigative subcommittees. The Committee filed 10 reports with the House totaling nearly 1,900 pages on various investigative matters.
