Oversee the introductory section of the national, bimonthly magazine. Identify stories for that section and write them or assign them to freelance writers, assuring freelance content is completed on time and to acceptable standards. Write or oversee freelance writers’ completion of one or more feature articles in each issue. Participate in regular editorial planning meetings to determine what features each issue will include. Edit all columns and articles and proofread all editorial pages for every issue. Regularly provide content for the magazine’s website through the Vivvo content management system.

Covered federal and state courts and legal affairs, including three death penalty trials and the district attorney’s 2002 election. Served on the team of reporters who covered the 1996 Republican National Convention in San Diego. Reported on Poway city government and schools. Worked the weekend rotation, covering the police beat and general assignment stories.

Pitched story ideas to local and national news media. Wrote photo captions. Wrote a trade magazine article for a client.
