I’m a lucky man. Since I started my events business in 2004 I’ve been privileged to watch over 100,000 people challenge themselves and achieve things they never thought possible. After almost 20 years in event management, I’ve also learned a thing or two about sponsorship, marketing and implementation. I’ve partnered and collaborated with big global companies as well as some of New Zealand’s most respected brands who appreciate the unique commercial opportunities that only events can offer.I love the buzz that comes with organising and hosting great events. I love the positive impact they have on the participants and the supporters that turn out in their thousands to cheer on their loved ones or the random strangers they see pushing themselves to the limit. It all started in 2004 with the King of the Bays (now known as Swim the Shore). The following year we added the Harbour Crossing (now known as Swim the Bridge) and in 2006 we launched the first New Zealand Ocean Swim Series. Since then more than 75,000 people have taken part in the country’s most popular swimming series. Swimming is in my blood. My father swam at national level in New Zealand while there are a couple of Olympic swimmers on my mother’s side of the family. Growing up in Milford on Auckland’s North Shore, I’ve loved the water since I was little. I realised my childhood dream of swimming for New Zealand but my career was cut short by injury in my early 20s. After gaining valuable sales and marketing experience with DB Breweries, I took the plunge and set up my own events company. Twenty years later I still love what I do. I sold the NZ Ocean Swim Series in 2021 to focus on other opportunities including Ocean Swim Fiji (www.oceanswimfiji.com), the ultimate swimcation which combines a holiday with a unique swimming event in the crystal clear tropical waters of Fiji. I founded Puhoi Beer in 2020 and it was while sipping on one of our tasty pilsners I came up with the concept for our newest event - the Z Manu World Champs. An event all about celebrating the art of popping Manus – the most famous bomb in the world, invented right here in Aotearoa. It's where bomb legends from all walks of life come together to make waves, take flight, and Manu into greatness.
