As the Senior Product Owner/Manager, I was responsible for feature definition, scrum logistics and mentorship of the Software as a Service (SaaS) Operations development team, developing tools to monitor and provision our hosted infrastructure, and the forward-thinking Architecture development team, building our next-generation platform of Docker-based microservices. To gain executive buy-in for these projects, I created a business case that projected an annual operating cost savings of over one million dollars.As the Program Manager, I led all projects within a complex Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software portfolio, including cross-functional work by various development teams, documentation teams and software validation experts. As we merged our processes with those from Illumina, I evangelized our software processes and worked to gain regulatory acceptance within ISO 27001 and other industry standards.

As the Senior Product Owner, I supported and mentored other product owners as well as having a direct product ownership role for the LIMS product development team. I introduced and spearheaded a program to move our technology platform forward by replacing components one by one instead of all at the same time to limit our market risk and maintain our profitability.As the Director of Software Development, I oversaw all aspects of building a full-stack development team for our LIMS platform including staffing a new development team in our California office. I was instrumental in the team that led GenoLogics into the Illumina acquisition by providing our technical vision.

As the Program Manager for strategic projects, I guided strategy and planning of new market areas with large partners. This included working closely with the GenoLogics CEO on an Illumina-driven population sequencing effort with the government of England that was so successful it eventually led to the acquisition of GenoLogics by Illumina.As the Technical Services Manager, I led the team responsible for supporting and implementing the market-leading Clarity LIMS product. Under my leadership, this team was awarded the Frost & Sullivan Award for Customer Service Leadership for providing austouding support to our customers using our simple and efficient processes.As the Technical Project Manager, I oversaw a portfolio of complex internal product development projects requiring the integrated delivery of software solutions and professional services. I researched and drove a project to build a mechanism for customers to validate of our software against various regulations including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) leading to a 25% improvement in time to production.

This included standard solutions architecture activities including requirements analysis and writing of statements of work (SOWs) as well as leading a 12 member cross-functional team of technical consultants. Under my direction, we built this team from the ground up into a two-million dollar business.

In addition, I worked directly with customers and partners, including Adobe, Epson and Xeikon, to gather requirements and gather feedback on current products and services.

As a Software Developer and Team Lead, I completed bug fixes, new feature development and halftone screening algorithmic design of a profitable software product with over seven million lines of code. In later years, I also led and mentored a team of four software developers while spearheading a program to improve coding practices through code reviews and architecture improvements. In addition, I was involved in the invention of three flexographic screening algorithms that were awarded patents and led to a competitive advantage for our product and various industry awards.
