Scott F. Smith has been with Barry University since August 2011 and has more than 30 years of progressive higher education leadership experience. Scott completed his Ph.D. in higher education administration with an emphasis on leadership and organizational development from The Ohio State University. He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from The University of the South and a master's degree with a dual track in adult and community college education and counselor education with an emphasis on student development from North Carolina State University. While working on his doctorate, Scott was a recipient of the American College Personnel Association’s (ACPA) Nevitt Sanford Research Award, inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and served as the President of the Ohio College Personnel Association (OCPA). As an active member of ACPA and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), he has presented at both association’s annual conferences. Scott served 4 years on the Association of Student Affairs at Catholic Colleges and Universities (ASACCU) board. He currently serves on the Miami Shores Chamber of Commerce and is an ex-Officio member of the Orange Bowl Committee.
