I love making stuff. Always have. The process of creation has captivated me for as long as I can remember. I love forming materials into something new. Something useful. Something amazing.I also love making stuff better. And making the process of making stuff better. It’s who I am and why I have relished my 20+ years working in manufacturing, quality, and engineering for some of the most innovative companies in the world - Nike, Texas Instruments, Motorola, and Advanced Micro Devices - where good is never good enough, where the drive to improve, to rethink, to push boundaries, is relentless.I got my start in the semiconductor industry working on some of the most advanced manufacturing processes in the world. As the originators, Motorola maintains a fervent commitment to the Six Sigma improvement process and I was fortunate to participate in their black belt program. This was a revelation and ignited a passion in me for statistical process control (SPC) and lean manufacturing that continues to influence my work today.While my experiences are varied – establishing and ramping a new manufacturing facility in Vietnam, leading large global cross-functional teams to deliver new product and process innovations, driving process, product, and quality excellence with Nike’s largest footwear manufacturing partners, leading Nike’s internal manufacturing division to world-class levels of quality – one core tenet has remained constant: an unwavering commitment to empowering and elevating my teams.As a servant leader, I thrive on building highly-functioning teams. Teams where everyone has a voice. Where opinions are not only encouraged, but expected. It’s how we win, but more importantly, it’s how we ensure ongoing excellence.
