Developing aerospace measurement systems with the Electromechanical Systems group at LORD Corporation by building algorithm simulations, analyzing test data, and designing hardware prototypes.

Founding partner of a hydrokinetic riverpower startup company.-Achieved a strong SBIR proposal acceptance rate.-Served as Principle Investigator for Phase I & II NSF SBIR projects and a Phase I Office of Naval Research SBIR project.-Determined prototype scale by writing custom software to estimate the product cost, value of electricity produced, and the probable number of river sites with sufficient size and annual flow rate distributions for different sized harvesters.-Led simulation and design efforts and coordinated remotely with team to direct prototyping and testing efforts.-Generated patent pending IP to manage power extraction vs. stalling tradeoff in the presence of varying drive frequency, power availability, and turbulence.-Found cost-effective ways to create the required testing facilities without the startup budget of a university or large organization.

Conducted a study to estimate the potential for wind harvesting at the Advanced Energy Retrofit Living Laboratory which will be part of the DOE's Energy Efficient Building Hub in Philadelphia.

Developed a new AFM probe calibration algorithm and published signal processing recommendations that were cited in a CRC Press textbook. Research involved analytical and FEM/CFD studies of the fluid-structure interaction between the sensor and fluid environment.Participated in an interlab AFM calibration study for the National Physical Laboratory as part of an effort to develop an ISO International Standard.Collaborated with other researchers on projects involving micro- and nanomanufacturing, optical trapping, electrospinning, and growing arrays of plants for the rapid characterization of gene expression.

Designed, prototyped, and evaluated passive and active vibration mitigation devices for aerospace applications. Projects included launch vehicle fairings, a large-scale satellite technology testbed for the Space Vehicles Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory and an optics bench isolation mount on the Airborne Laser for Boeing-SVS.

Maintained the operations of a small materials laboratory characterizing the dynamic material properties of foams and adhesives, and the acoustic performance of potential materials and structures to be used in automotive interiors.
