Skills UsedOn-Screen Take-Off to calculate plant material, ground cover elements, irrigation, and hardscape materials - including all amenities needed for the project, or specifically requested amenities. I use Excel for creating my estimate, and I know how to use Google to find answers to any question I might have.Some customer service skills are needed when corresponding with our various distributors. ResponsibilitesContact multiple distributors for each site element to get the most competitive pricing on materials needed for the project once my take-off is complete.Fill in a pre-designed spreadsheet with all materials and pricing, making sure to include Labor costs, planting and staking costs, back-fill costs, all subcontractors and their pricing, and complete irrigation estimate including controller, back-flow, valves, boxes, laterals, etc...Finally, keeping everything organised by making email folders for each project to save estimates and any correspondence relating to the project. All estimates, and important emails are then saved to the project folder on our local server. This last part is very important as it is what construction will be using if we're awarded the project, so everything needs to be organised and easily accessible.AccomplishmentsI have set dates my projects are due, and I make it point to finish my part at least a couple days before the due date so my manager can do his part by reviewing my estimate, and putting together the final bid for the project. In my year with Caretaker, I think we were awarded the contract for about half a dozen projects I helped put together. Volunteer member of the Safety Committee.
