Doing freelance work has allowed me to use my skills & experience in a variety of different areas. I've setup simple static websites, database-driven sites using the Wordpress platform to knowledge management systems, and help desks w/ support tickets. I also offer technical services and have been contracted to help with various projects such as setting up and troubleshooting web services & server configurations. I handled anything technical related for the company including the management of 3 servers and 20 workstations, maintenance of all printing and cutting equipment and setting up custom file transfer solutions & FTP for customer artwork. We also house an archive of 20 years of customer artwork and it was critical to ensure that we had backups of everything. I was able to streamline the on-site backup process and established an off-site backup service for an extra layer of security.I established design standards & a versioning system for company-wide technical documentation and handled creation and updating of these documents as well. I also initiated and implemented a web-based knowledge management system for internal usage to make it easier for employees to locate critical information and documentation on processes and procedures.

As the printing and prepress manager I was responsible for managing the entire printing workflow and operation of the 3 large/grand format printers. Keeping efficiency in mind I successfully streamlined the print department workflow by implementing a hot folder system using pre-defined settings eliminating the need to manually retrieve artwork files for processing. I also recognized a need and opportunity to reduce media costs & initiated the research, testing and implementation of a different brand of print media saving the company an average of $3500 per month in material costs.In a successful effort to decrease order reprints and material waste I initiated & established color management settings and standards for our in-house design department. I trained all in-house designers on how to properly setup their artwork & cut paths for proper output with our RIP software and printing equipment. I also diagnosed and solved any artwork related issues ranging from the simple to extremely complex, which occurred during the print processing stage. I was also responsible for the setup and configuration of the RIP software and trained all print operators on it's usage as well as the operation of each large/grand format printer.

I managed the web presence for the company ranging from the management and server side configuration for hosting to the planning, development and maintenance of our corporate website with product gallery and eCommerce websites, all using the Wordpress platform. I designed & created the monthly email campaign template and managed all email lists. I provided the conceptual design & contracted the 3rd party development of a sign design application using Adobe Flex technology.

As a production manager I streamlined production processes & routines which ultimately resulted in significantly faster release times for new products and sessions. During my time as manager my team produced & released 490 sessions of training for our proprietary e-Learning product.Working under the direction of the Product Manager I was able to use my technical experience to design and create a technical instruction manual for our server based product. I also played a key role in the development & creation of a certification program for Technicians and Administrators and performed all training and certification as well.As an online course developer I was able to utilize my graphics experience and designed or customized 300 logos to incorporate into each company's customized training portal. I also designed and created the template for eBook PDF's that we used in each course/session.

Working with an existing client base I handled the conversion of 35mm slides of of their patient photos to a digital format in order to store them in our digital archiving software. I would also handle the reverse and have digital images transferred to 35mm slides for our existing client base to use in presentations.Using numerous photo quality inkjet printers I was responsible for creating all example prints which were used during trade shows and sales appointments.
