Oversee editorial content of Carolina Country magazine, the award-winning monthly publication reaching more than 2.2 million readers across North Carolina. With the largest circulation of any publication in the state, Carolina Country has been distributed to members of North Carolina's electric cooperatives since 1946.🏆 2020 George W. • Develop and support communication programs that describe and promote CFC and its affiliates, NCSC and RTFC. • Oversee corporate communications functions, including public relations, strategic messaging, digital communications and social media, crisis communications, and executive messaging. • Advise senior management and key staff on effective communication strategies.

• Manage content development and production of weekly Solutions News Bulletin, a financial news resource for CFC member electric cooperatives.• Coordinate and develop additional publications and corporate communication strategies.

• Edit, write, and review editorial materials for Rural Electric Magazine and Straight Talk Alert—monthly content for use in local and state-wide co-op publications• Research and write feature articles on a wide range of business, economic, and social issues of concern to electric cooperatives and the local communities they serve• Design and create multimedia resources, which include interactive Web resources, graphics, charts, and maps• Attend electric co-op conferences nationwide, educating communicators and decision makers about communication strategies, related federal policy, and social media opportunities

Coordinated ongoing Continental Divide Trail (CDT) mapping project for Backpacker Magazine. Assigned and managed content from more than 300 hikers/contributors while coordinating related grassroots efforts with non-profit and federal agencies.

Wrote for features editor through reporting internship at weekly business paper. Covered a range of special interest areas, from mortgage tips and company profiles to luxury fireplace designs.

Managed Southeast and Midwest regional contributors as an intern at the magazine's map office. Wrote and edited trail descriptions for Backpacker Waypoints cards.

Worked as an assistant editor in 2005, becoming the lead editor for Magnetics Business & Technology magazine while working heavily on Software Business magazine. Also took on graphic design and webmaster roles, designing house advertisements and e-newsletter templates while advising other editors on layout.

Oversaw daily work assignments and living situations of an 11-member team of 18 to 24-year-old volunteers. Worked for several public and non-profit organizations across the northeastern United States.

Served as an intern in Congressman Terry Everett’s Washington, D.C., office. Handled a variety of tasks, including research for staff advisors and response writing to constituent letters.
