Stories and Storytelling. The people and places, characters and worlds of stories. History and stories of the past. Movies, music and television, the stories of the present. The storyteller, whether it is a famous director/screenplay writer, a former student or myself, is one of fascination and mystery.Currently, I am a bartender and aspiring mixologist, developing my craft as a storyteller behind the bar through beer, wine and spirits. I am fascinated in the story of each patron and in each cocktail.In my previous career of 27 years, I was an advisor, coach, educator and enthusiast of high school student storytellers. I was a digital audio and video media arts teacher at Foothill High School, Pleasanton, CA, (2002 - 2021) with a focus on empowering and leading students to find and tell their stories. The primary software taught and used was on the Apple platform, software applications like Final Cut Pro X, Garageband, iMovie and Motion. Production tools, like DSLR cameras and basic lighting and audio tools were taught about and used in the classroom.Furthermore, I held the role as an Associated Student Body Government advisor (2005 -2010). In this role, I assisted and guided student class officers in planning and executing school wide events (the Annual Homecoming, Proms and Graduation ceremonies) and special programs (Every Fifteen Minutes, a Drinking and Driving education and awareness program partnered with the California Highway Patrol).I enjoy the outdoors, hiking and mountain biking. The Lake Tahoe Basin is a second home for my family and I.As a professional educator in my first career, I enjoyed seeing others being/becoming their best selves. In my next professional role, I hope to find a new place where I can continue to assist and serve others as they become their best versions of themselves.
