I love math. No, really.Math is not about having answers; it's about finding creative solutions to difficult problems. The joy of math is in the thrill of the chase, so to speak. That's one reason why I like to offer free math tutoring for students. Many people do not like math, usually because they do not understand it. But when I explain the principles in a way they can understand and apply, the students grow and thrive and perform very well in their classes - math and others.I find the same is true in the business world; there are performance metrics, financial numbers and various data that must be analyzed so a plan of action can be implemented. I thrive on this - analyzing data and communicating it in a way that is easily understandable and actionable.The other reason that I like working with students is that I enjoy working with people. I have been in leadership and management for more than 20 years, both in the military and in the business world. People matter. And for most businesses, people are the greatest asset.Leadership means giving direction to the organization. It also means equipping and empowering others to perform at greater levels of competency, effectiveness and efficiency. It means taking business data and communicating it in a way that others can understand and take appropriate actions.It's about finding creative solutions to difficult problems.
