Founder of IndiNature - a materials innovation company with a subsidiary 7,000 T/p.a. natural fibre manufacturing mill - using non-woven textile processes with a focus on construction insulation.Before IndiNature I was working in grassroots community development in the UK, working in neighbourhoods with terrible social housing conditions. I wanted to learn how to make buildings healthier and more affordable to heat. So I completed an MSc in Architecture (Advanced Environmental and Energy Systems) and focused on lab-based research into natural building materials, then put theory into practice by rebuilding my family home with them in Scotland - using skills gained as a housebuilder in Vancouver. In 2016 I brought 3 co-founders together to set up IndiNature so we can make industrial scale impacts on the climate, the environment and people's health. I led the company as CEO for the first 6 years - growing a team to develop products, secure a patent, raise £7M (currently £10M+ to date) and set up the 40,000ft2 non-woven textile factory. This includes procuring and installing two production lines, an airlay + thermobonding line and a carding, crosslap and needle loom line.I also enjoy marketing for good causes - with time spent in Vancouver, Los Angeles and Edinburgh in both commercial advertising and health promotion - and now promoting healthy low carbon buildings !
