Assigned at various times as a Military Police Officer and a Military Intelligence officer while serving in the Hawaii National Guard and the US Army Reserve. Assigned initially as a Sergeant and promoted within six months to Staff Sergeant.Completed the US Army Officer Basic course and promoted to 2nd Lieutenant. Completed the Military Police Officer Basic and Military Intelligence Officer Basic Courses and the Electronic Warfare Course. Subsequently promoted to 1st Lieutenant and then Captain.

Completed recruit school, short desk and field training assignments, then transferred to uniformedpatrol duties for four years. Selected within a year for assignment to the Waikiki patrol area, thebusiest and most concentrated public contact area in the county. Returned to communications unitfor a year before being transferred to research and development, management analysis, crimeanalysis and public information assignments.Served as de-facto Hawaii State Control Terminal Officer for the National Crime Information Center(NCIC) and State Coordinator for the National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System(National LETS.) Independently designed and executed specialized investigative and managementtools for the Honolulu Police Department, the US Coast Guard, for the Organized Crime StrikeForce of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, a number of Federal Agencies and the NationalAutomobile Theft Bureau using the SAS System in an MVS/CICS mainframe computingenvironment. Oversaw department information technology and telecommunications processes.Placed on special assignment to the office of the Chief of Police as a management analyst for ayear, then placed in charge of the Crime Stoppers program.

Processed calls for service, dispatched and provided logistical support for typically 15 to 30uniformed officers, supervisors and specialized units in the field. Transitioned from call taker todispatcher assignments in 60 days. Within 6 months, acted as needed as a temporary shiftsupervisor, responsible for eight radio frequencies, ten call taking positions and three clericalsupport positions per shift.

Completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training. Graduated from the US Army Military Police School, the NCO Education System Basic Course and the Military Police Investigator Training Course.Was at various times assigned to Fort Ord CA, Fort Gordon GA, Fort Huachuca AZ and Fort Ritchie MD. Completed the NCO Education System Basic and Advanced courses. Promoted from Private to Sergeant over the course of five years.Served during the Vietnam era.
