About Seliat Dairo
I currently work as a Consultant, partnering with schools and non-profits to find talented leaders, and help them recognize and value the different ways talent may show up to and in their community. Working on projects that include anti-bias training, equity audit, professional development for faculty and staff, etc. I am part of the team planning Carney Sandoe's Diversity Forum since starting in 2016, that hosts professional development from senior school administrators and diversity practitioners and included keynotes such as Dena Simmons, Anthony Jack, Tim Wise, Cornel West and Michael Eric Dyson, brought teachers and administrators looking for new job prospects and community opportunities from across the country to interview. Currently on the CS&A Diversity Committee, we develop resources and events for the firm and advising schools and administrators. She has also presented on leadership opportunities for educators at independent schools at the BOLD Conference at Galloway School and was an advisor for candidates at the Kingswood Oxford Leadership Institute for Educators of Color. My postgraduate career began at Ethical Culture Fieldston School in New York in their Progressive and Multicultural Education Department. This team oversaw the Diversity team and I helped to plan the Progressive Education Network national conference and the Hilltop Diversity Conference. A major project was researched the hiring and retention of faculty of color in independent schools, and resources on diversity and inclusion for the school's students, faculty and staff, and parents to support whole school diversity and inclusion initiatives. While a student at Duke, I worked and interned at museums, including the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts and the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University in special events and exhibition curation. These opportunities including study abroad trips to Turkey, Morocco and Egypt inspired me to think about education in a greater context,Having recently completed UPenn's Educational Entrepreneurship program, I studied the intersections of education and business, and developed a venture to support the career and college development for K-12, particularly geared towards students of color from low-income communities by increasing representation and motivation. An adventurous spirit and curious mind, I travel internationally independently. An active Prep for Prep alum, I also tutor in the after school program and college application essay workshop at 826 Boston.
Listed skills include Microsoft Office, Public Speaking, Social Media, Research, and 12 others.
