Flexcraft recruits, selects, mediates, and guides European temporary workers, offers work & learning trajectories, and mediates temporary workers and self-employed professionals who work in construction, technology, and industry. Through Flexcraft, over 12,000 temporary workers are employed daily. The revenue in 2021 amounted to 310 million euros.Simon was responsible to architect and source a greenfield IT environment and to migrate the different Flexcraft companies, Horizon companies and recently acquired companies to the new environment. The project includes the creation of a new department, processes, and procedures to support the new environment.

Capelle Aan Den Ijssel, South Holland, Netherlands

Thyssenkrupp Stairlifts specializes in crafting personalized stairlifts for home use. With innovative technology, their stairlifts navigate the inner curve of corners, freeing up the wider outer bend for regular activities. Thyssenkrupp Stairlifts operates as a manufacturing plant which employs 150 people. Notably, the production of StairLifts constituted only a small fraction of Thyssenkrupp's expansive Elevator business, a division that was divested during the engagement for €20.4 billion.Simon guided Thyssenkrupp StairLifts in their endeavor to reduce technical debt and align with corporate standards. A substantial aspect of this undertaking involved formulating a roadmap and crafting project proposals. These comprehensive strategies were shared with local management and the business unit's IT leadership. Regrettably, the program coincided with a demanding period, as the sale of the Elevator business unit had a notable impact on the unit's priorities.

Friesland Campina is a renowned Dutch dairy cooperative and global dairy company. It specializes in producing and distributing a wide range of dairy products, including milk, cheese, yogurt, and infant nutrition, serving both consumer and business markets worldwide.Throughout his involvement, Simon assumed diverse roles spanning Corporate IT and Corporate Supply Chain at FrieslandCampina. Initially enlisted for the implementation of OT ringfencing, a project that enforced communication boundaries between IT and OT networks, Simon subsequently transitioned to the role of network architect. Following this, he took on the role of bridging the gap between Corporate IT and OT functions. In 2019, Corporate OT enlisted Simon's expertise to develop a standardized blueprint encompassing OT networking, hosting, and security, also involving his support in product and vendor selection. Post-engagement, FrieslandCampina successfully deployed these blueprints across substantial segments of the organization.

This decision allowed Philips to focus more exclusively on its core areas of health technology and consumer lifestyle products.Throughout his involvement, Simon played a role in facilitating the separation of the new Lighting company from the broader Philips global network. He transformed the desired target architecture into baseline configurations, and assumed responsibility for crafting and maintaining the standardized procedures for seamless site migrations. In the process of disentanglement, Simon's contributions extended to design and change reviews for the complex interconnection that linked the Philips and Lighting ASNs.

The group's multifaceted portfolio spans container and bulk goods transshipment, freight insurance, customs support, repackaging, staffing, storage solutions, and the operation of third-party distribution centers.Simon, in his role as principal engineer, was tasked with implementing the new Microsoft RDS-based workplaces, Microsoft Hyper-V-based data centers, Cisco network and security services, as well as orchestrating the migration of various entities within the group onto this new infrastructure.

Corbion, a former business unit of CSM, is a Dutch biotechnology company that specializes in the production of sustainable ingredients for food, biobased chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. With a focus on lactic acid based solutions, Corbion aims to contribute to healthier, more sustainable living through its diverse range of products and applications. After Corbion's separation from CSM, Simon took on the task of replacing the AT&T global network. He introduced a innovative VPN-based network, incorporating key features of what later became known as SD-WAN. To carry out the implementation and provide ongoing support, OGD ict-diensten was enlisted. This collaboration marked the inception of a 24x7 network support team, with Corbion being a pivotal launch customer. Over the last ten years, Corbion has periodically updated the equipment, but the solution continues to operate successfully to this day.

CSM, previously known as Centrale Suiker Maatschappij (Central Sugar Company), is a Dutch multinational corporation that primarily operates in the food industry. Historically focused on sugar production, CSM has diversified its portfolio to include a range of ingredients and solutions for the bakery, confectionery, and food service sectors.CSM consistently sought out Simon's expertise in various roles. His journey at CSM commenced as a network engineer, where he played a pivotal role in overseeing the company's WAN and its provider, AT&T. In this capacity, his responsibilities primarily revolved around conceptualizing changes that would later be executed by AT&T.Within a few months, Simon's role expanded when he assumed the position of Global Infrastructure Service Manager, prompted by the incumbent's illness. About a year into his engagement, CSM launched a program with the goal of standardizing workplace and backend services across the organization. During this phase, Simon took on the dual role of Stream Lead and Network Architect.With the successful conclusion of the program, CSM announced its decision to divest its Bakery divisions, which formed a substantial part of its operations. Once again, Simon was called upon to lead the network aspects of the disentanglement process. The remaining company would later be named Corbion.

His journey began in September 2006, after he decided to discontinue his studies at Vrije Universiteit. Over a span of approximately 2 years, he contributed his expertise to various ServiceDesk teams, concurrently earning the MCSA 2003 certification. This credential served as a stepping stone for Simon to transition into OGD's TotaalBeheer (TotalSupport) service.The TotaalBeheer service involved providing part-time, on-site IT support to clients. The structure was built around assigning a dedicated support engineer to oversee a group of 5-7 small to medium-sized companies over a 9-month period. This arrangement facilitated swift skill development, independent work capabilities, and a robust customer-centric focus, nurturing emerging talent. During this period, he attained both the MCSE 2003 and CCNP certifications. In line with the customary practice at OGD ict-diensten, he also undertook the role of an instructor, helping new talent achieve the same certifications.In the subsequent phase, Simon transitioned to the Project & Advice group. He initially functioned as a network specialist, and over the spawn of several years, he advanced to the position of a network architect. This role encompassed responsibilities such as conceptualizing innovative solutions, composing responses for tender proposals, and providing strategic guidance to clients.
